Sundae Romance

“Sundae Romance” is a simple yet clever piece from my fellow sculptor Jack Morford. I shot this photo a few weeks back before it’s entrance in a local show. He has a lot of clever pieces check out his site here.

In the News

There was a fun article that came out about my sculpture “Second Star to the Right” down in Hemet, California. The residents of the area and even many of the employees at the store didn’t know where it came from. It has been a bit of a mystery sculpture. Bob Pratte, who works with the Press-Enterprise tracked me down and wrote and article about it.

When you have a moment check it out! Click here for the link.

Website update

I have spent some time updating Dennis Smith’s website. I have added quite a bit more of his portfolio to the site. It’s amazing how many pieces he has created in his career of over 40 years. Check it out here.

Second Star to the Right Installed

Second Star to the Right Installed

We made a trip last week to Hemet California and installed “Second Star to the Right”. The bronze was installed front and center of the strip-mall. The location and landscaping was beautiful. The weather turned from light rain to a heavy rain and hail as we started the installation. It was making for a hard installation but then Mother Nature turned kinder as the installation went on and we ended up with only a small drizzle of rain at the end. We appreciated the drizzle not only for the installation but also to get the photos.

Life-size “Second Star to the Right”

The months of work are finally over! Last week I completed the clay for the monument “Second Star to the Right”. I am happy with how it turned out. Its off to the molding department getting its first coats of rubber.

I hope we all can relate to this piece, I know I can. I grew up hearing many stories related to me by my Grandparents. Their experiences and examples will always be part of who I am. I hope I can leave a positive influence on my own children (and someday grandchildren). There is nothing greater that we will leave on this earth than our influence on others. I hope this sculpture will always be a symbol of that precious opportunity.

Mother and Infant

This sculpture is one of my favorites of Dennis’. I love how natural and comfortable the piece feels. Dennis has a gift to be able to say much with his gestures.

We received a casting back from one of our galleries and I thought I ought to get a good picture of it before it is off to another.
